The recent win of the provincial men's fastball title by the United Contractors over Prince Albert Coronet Royals harked back to the 1951 provincial win by the girl's softball team, who also beat out a Prince Albert team for the title.

A section of Woodlawn in the Estevan area was recently named Imps Park in honor of the Estevan Softball teams that played in the southeast part of the province.

Many Provincial Honors Brought Home By Estevan Athletes
The Estevan Imps won provincial laurels in Senior B Division of Ladies Softball in 1951 -- the same year Estevan Junior Deuces successfully defended their provincial crown for the first but not the last time.
The Estevan Junior Deuces, coached by Walt Abrams and Jack Wilkie, won the title in 1950 with the honors of bringing home the first provincial softball title to Estevan. They won straight games to defeat Swift Current Red Sox with such lopsided scores as 30-2 in the third game.
The famed champs are well known in Estevan and included the following stars; Beverly Cunnah, Francis Sparks, (Mrs. Ernie McLean), Margaret Krokosh, Sharon Parkhill (Mrs. Heintz), Ann Johner (Mrs. Campbell), Cynthia Bryson, Karen Svorkdahl (Mrs. Bisgaard), Gloria Nicholson (Mrs. Frank Fordyce), Arlene Elsen, Yvonne Tessier (Mrs. DeBoth), Arlene Seaman (Mrs. Toffan), Shirley Knight, Norma Clute (Mrs. Tessier), Eilene Michel (Mrs. Floer).
The Junior Deuces defended their title in 1951 against Prince Albert Shamrocks, in 1952, 53 and 54, with the exceptional wonder of holding provincial title for five straight years.
The Estevan Maple Leafs, the well known colored team sponsored by Estevan brought home the provincial title in baseball in 1951. Several of these boys defended the cause of man in Korea with two losing their lives.
The Estevan Collegiate Duces basketball team won the provincial title in "B" division the first year the division was formed in 1956. Coached to victory by Walt Abrams they downed Nipawin Nippers 40-18 in a sudden death game.
Members of this team included; Linda Peterson, Vivian Hegre (Mrs. Curle), Dot Elson (Mrs. Labinski), Carol Perry (Mrs. Barber), Mina Spearing (Mrs. Bill Henderson), Shirley McIllvena, Berva Dunbar (Mrs. Don Pierce), Anita Sorley (Mrs. Morris Wisniak), Sharon Sava (Mrs. Rooney) and Laureen Anderson.
